Physiotherapy West - Indra Sivacolundhu

B.App.Sc. (Physio), Postgrad. Dip. Sports Physio, Masters in OHS

Indra is the director at Physiotherapy West and has over 20 years of physiotherapy private practice experience.

She has a postgraduate diploma in Sports Physiotherapy and brings a wealth of recognised, advanced clinical knowledge into this area. Her studies involved learning from highly reputable physiotherapy professionals, including Professor Peter O’Sullivan, Professor Leon Straker and Bob Elvey. Indra has been recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association as one who has advanced clinical knowledge in the field of Sports Physiotherapy and has been awarded the title ” APA Exercise and Sports Physiotherapist”.

Indra additionally holds a master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety and has an interest in the prevention of injuries at the workplace through recognised prevention strategies. She has occupied multiple Health and Safety roles and assisted with projects for a number of companies both in Perth and in the North-West of Western Australia.

Outside of Physiotherapy West, Indra is a dedicated rower, competing in rowing events at a state and national level, as well as advocating the increase of activity levels for people of all ages.

Physio West - Kate Wheat - Physiotherapists

Physiotherapist | B.Sc.(Physio)

Kate is the longest serving employed physiotherapist at Physiotherapy West.

She is experienced in treating a wide range of musculo-skeletal injuries including neck pain, back pain, shoulder problems and sporting injuries. She has worked alongside dancers and soccer and football teams to help enhance optimal performance and rehabilitation. Kate has had extra training in the post op rehabilitation for surgeries including ACL repairs, total knee and hip replacements, ankle and knee reconstructions, and shoulder surgeries. She has also worked with infants to help with plagiocephaly treatment.

Kate lives nearby and has been working at the clinic since graduating from Curtin University in 2011. In the time since then, we have seen her build her home, get married and start her family which now comprises of herself, her husband, two children and trusty Rusty the dog. In early 2020, Kate was diagnosed with Stage Four Hodgkins Lymphoma. She had extended time off work for treatment and returned to Physiotherapy West in March 2021. We are grateful for the wonderful care she received throughout her illness and that she can now focus on being a mum to her two littlies and return to us healthy and happy.

Physiotherapist | DPT (Doctor of Physiotherapy)

Hira is an internationally trained physiotherapist who attained her Doctor of Physical Therapy qualification in 2017. She has been subsequently registered in Australia since 2022. 

Possessing a strong academic background, Hira has demonstrated excellence as an undergraduate, ranking in the top three percent of students at her university. She earned distinctions and medals in various academic subjects. Her professional profile is marked by noteworthy achievements, including publications in national and international medical journals based on her research. Furthermore, she has served as a certified reviewer of scientific papers within the medical domain. 

Hira specializes in addressing a diverse array of musculoskeletal conditions, encompassing issues such as neck and back pains, headaches, and shoulder problems. Her particular focus extends to women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction, with future plans to undertake additional studies in this specialized area.

Beyond her professional commitments, Hira is dedicated to her role as a caregiver for her 19-month-old son and husband. She also values socializing and discovering new affordable restaurants in the area.

Physiotherapy West - Ghislene Goh - APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist

APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist | Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist | B.Sc.(Physio); MSc.Sports Physio; B.Sc.Nursing

Ghislene is an APA titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience in sporting team involvement. She graduated from Curtin University in 2013 and completed her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 2017. She commenced working at Physiotherapy West in 2018.

Ghislene has a wealth of experience nationally and globally, having travelled with multiple sporting teams around Australia and worked in clinics in New Zealand. In addition to her competancy in all sporting related injuries, she has a keen interest in the physiotherapy treatment for headaches and TMJ (temperomandibular joint) conditions.

In 2018, Ghislene was honoured to be invited to provide physiotherapy services to athletes attending the Invictus Games in Sydney. She has been the Head Physiotherapist for the WA Women’s Football League, Western Force Rugby 7’s, WA Touch Football, and has worked with a number of local, state and national level Women’s AFL, AFL, hockey and rugby union teams.

Ghislene grew up in Singapore and is proficient in Mandarin and understands Hokkien. During her spare time, she enjoys travelling, trail walking, gym, and designing dog accessories at The Hound Inc.

Caillin Gibson Physio West Canning Vale

Physiotherapist | B.Sc.(Physio)

Caillin was awarded the Emeritus Professor Joan Cole Award for the most outstanding physiotherapy student when he graduated from Curtin University in 2015. Since then he has worked exclusively in physiotherapy private practice. He has a special interest in injuries related to endurance sports, tendinopathies, exploring non-operative options for a range of conditions and utilising strength and conditioning principles in treatment.

Outside of work hours, you will find Caillin running around with a whistle in his hand as a field umpire for the West Australian Football League, enjoying all things football, listening to music, spending time at the beach and the playing of the way too infrequent round of golf. He is also a keen triathlete and has completed several ironman 70.3 races, highlighted by a 2nd place finish in his age group in 2017. He hopes one day to step up to the Ironman distance.

Physiotherapist | BPT; Graduate Dip. Health Science

Meet Sujatha Sugumaran, affectionately known as Suji, a dedicated physiotherapist with almost 13 years of experience and a growing expertise in her field.

Suji joined the team at Physiotherapy West in 2023, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge gained from working in clinics across New Zealand and running her own practice in Auckland.

Specializing in rehabilitating patients with musculoskeletal challenges, sports injuries, and general physiotherapy, Suji has earned a strong reputation for her skills. She holds certifications in Spinal Manipulation and Dry Needling, complementing her traditional hands-on treatment approach for optimal outcomes.

Originally from India, Suji pursued her passion for physiotherapy in New Zealand, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree and continued her education in Auckland. Her success stories and numerous word-of-mouth referrals are a testament to her expertise and dedication.

Clients appreciate Suji’s kind, warm, and compassionate nature, as well as her patience and easy-going communication style, which quickly establish rapport and comfort. Many even describe her touch as having a “magic healing” quality.

Suki is one of our nurturing and caring Remedial Massage Therapists. She is a dedicated professional and has cultivated a strong drive towards helping others to better their wellbeing. Her Remedial Massage studies have included extra training in cupping and reflexology techniques.

Outside work, you can barely keep up with Suki! From running to meditation and yoga, swimming, stretching or trying out the latest and greatest Thai restaurants in Perth – she’s a self-confessed fitness fanatic and foodie.

Physiotherapy Assistant and Remedial Massage Therapist

Jenn originally worked with us in a receptionist role for several years. She left us to commence a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy which she completed in 2021. We are privileged that she has now chosen to return and work with us as a fully qualified Remedial Massage Therapist.

Jenn is an accomplished athlete having competed at a national level in a number of sports including hockey, rowing and athletics. When not working or following her athletic pursuits, she can be found spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Practice Manager

Jill was the first ever employee at Physiotherapy West and it is with a sense of pride that we say that she has now been with us for twenty years. She is the dedicated behind the scenes Practice Manager but to us, she is more than that. She is our team’s earth mother and nurturer. She keeps our head in the game and the team running smoothly.

Outside of work, Jill enjoys catching up with her family and friends and directing her husband with home renovation duties.
